The Best Man Movie Review
When two of his best friends from college plan their wedding, Harper is asked to be the best man. This is a big moment in anyone's life. The whole nature of friendship changes, and pals who hung out and partied must now change the way they see one another.A sharp script and a fine ensemble cast make "The Best Man movie" a standout.
Harper (Taye Diggs) has just written a novel and the ambitious and driven Jordan (Nia Long) has wrangled an advance copy for an interview. She's an up-and-coming producer on Black Entertainment Television. She also carries a torch for Harper, who has left his girlfriend, Robin (Sanaa Lathan), at home for the weekend. Trouble is, Jordan has been passing the advance copy around, and everybody sees him or herself in the thinly disguised characters. Some are flattered, others outraged. Romantic secrets, lapses in moral judgment and buried deceptions are encoded in the pages, but not as obscurely or cleverly as Harper had thought. As they read the book, the friends compare notes and reveal secrets. Interlocked intrigues that might have remained unexamined are brought into the light.
