What…no explosions??? At first glance, most men will just say “yes!” to this movie to see the sumptuous Jennifer Garner. After all what guy would say no to her? At second glance, you’ll notice that she’s not in her typical butt-kicking role a la Alias as Sydney Bristow. Truly this movie is Jennifer Garner stepping way outside her alias and showing her somewhat softer/childlike side. The box office hit BIG will come to mind shortly after the first few minutes, but in this version it’s a girl who magically becomes an adult looking through childlike eyes. I find myself actually digging her romantic interest, Mark Ruffalo. He actually seems like a regular guy who just can’t say no to Jennifer Garner. Anyway, their romance is believable and I can’t resist a movie where they break out the Michael Jackson moves. 13 Going On 30 is a good date movie that both guy and gal will enjoy.
